JBJ Full Discography

The start of the journey: Debuting

Do you still remember Mnet’s survival show, Produce 101 Season 2? This show was about 101 male trainees from various companies competing with each other to be part of a group consisting of 11 members that will be promoting for two years under YMC Entertainment (and goes to Stone Music Entertainment) called WannaOne.

At the same time, the eliminated trainees, that were chosen by the fans, including Takada Kenta, Jin Longguo, Kim Sang Gyun, and Kim Tae Dong were to debut together in a group project that is equivalent to Produce 101 Season 1’s group, IBI. Fans tentatively named the group JBJ, which comes from a Korean phrase 정말 바람직한 조합 that means A Really Desirable Combination or Just Be Joyful. Then Tae Hyun, Kim Dong Han, and Hyun Bin were added to the fan imagined group after Tae Hyun updated on his Instagram account that he received positive feedback from fans.

The group finally debuted as JBJ in early 2017, after long discussions between the seven tentative members and their respective agencies. At the discussions, CJ E&M and Loen Entertainment were also participating as the independent management companies for the group release and activities, respectively. Fave Entertainment, Loen Entertainment on a house label was tasked with being the group’s official agency. The trainees and companies finally reached an agreement on July 25th.

It was reported that JBJ’s contracts would last for only seven months, but LOEN entertainment said that they are open for discussions for extending the group’s contacts. Then, JBJ was scheduled to make their debut with seven members on September 10th. But around October 18th, the company announced that Kim Tae Dong won’t take part in the group’s debut.

There was an ongoing conflict with Tae Dong’s company The Vibe Label so that’s why his participation in the group was not confirmed yet. Since then, the involved parties, including LOEN Entertainment and CJ E&M, had many meetings and discussions to resolve the conflict, and on September 7th, they finally came to an agreement.

When Tae Dong was unable to promote as an official member of JBJ, after more than a year of inactivity, he returned back to the agency that was then called Major 9 Entertainment.
