Meet the New K-Pop Boy Group ENOi!

There are hundreds if not thousands of boy groups currently in the K-Pop world. Though not all of them end up making a name for themselves as big as BTS, EXO, or Big Bang, that doesn’t mean that those groups lack talent and likability. One of the groups that were born in the year of 2019 is Enoi (Korean: 이엔오아이; stylized as ENOi) which stands for ‘wE caN dO iT.’ Formed under the label KiTheWhale, the seven members of the group: Laon, Dojin, Hamin, Avin, Jinwoo, J-Kid, and Gun made their debut on April 19th, 2019, with the title track “Bloom.”

On April 19th, 2019, ENOi released their debut title track, “Bloom,” along with its music video. “Bloom” itself is a pop dance song with a catchy beat with lyrics that describe the feeling that has just begun to bloom. Their concept resembled the modern and classic K-Pop boy group style with the emphasis on the dance and the beat.

Now, the MV has been watched for more than 1M times, an astounding record for a rookie group. Many netizens wrote supportive messages in the comment section:

In early 2020, ENOi made a new comeback with the title track “Cheeky” from their first EP, Red in the Apple.

They talk about the writing process and the meaning behind their new album at the media showcase in Seoul on Monday, January 10th, 2020.

“We made a comeback in nine months. Each time we see our song on the charts, we feel overwhelmed and surreal. Now that we have our first media showcase, it finally hits me that our album is out. We feel responsible for those who’ve been waiting for us,” Laon who composed and wrote most of the songs in the album said.

“Gun, he is a member who hopes to be loved and give it back to others. Upon wondering where that passion and dedication came from, I drew out a conclusion that those feelings were part of love,” he said. “Members liked the song as soon as they heard its intro, pushing me to tap it as the lead track.”

Apples are the main symbol of the album, and represent love and passion, while the color red is chosen for the color of love and passion.

ENOi also said that for this comeback, they increased the difficulty level of the choreography.

“When we promoted ‘Bloom,’ I’d practiced its dance movements about 1,800 times. For ‘Cheeky,’ I think we’ve already danced to it over 1,000 times,” said Laon.
