She is a Chinese singer based in South Korea who has signed under Pledis Entertainment. After finishing sixth in the survival show Produce 101, she became a member of the girl group I.O.I. She was also a member of Pristin and its subunit Pristin V.
She attended the Affiliated Secondary School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she specialized in the pipa. In 2009, she was discovered by Pledis Entertainment scouts in Shanghai, and she then moved to South Korea.
