Plagiarism Issue

Singer Uhm Jung-hwa came back in 2016 with the album The Cloud Dream of the Nine, which was released on December 27. Even so, it seemed that Uhm Jung-hwa was forced to deal with the plagiarism issues just before her comeback. The new album’s cover, where Uhm Jung-hwa poses decorated with lights, was claimed to have been plagiarized from other works.

Uhm Jung-hwa’s cover photos are known to be similar to those from the duo of American pop singers, Lily and Madeleine, for “Keep it Together”, which was released in February, 2016. Related to the accusation, the agency representative for Uhm Jung-hwa claimed that such a concept was very commonly used and did not necessarily belong to someone.

“The project used for shooting was very common. Such an atmosphere has been used by many people and many genres,” said the representative from Uhm Jung-hwa’s agency. “Photographer Hong Jang-hyun only expresses fantasy from the image of the album ‘The Cloud Dream of the Nine’. He only uses light for it.”

Meanwhile, to comeback after a long hiatus from the music industry, Uhm Jung-hwa released the new music video for her song in 2016. She brought the main single, titled “Watch On Me” and prepared another song that collaborated with a number of other idols, such as SHINee’s Jonghyun, on her new album.

Uhm Jung-hwa Returns To The Big Screen For a New Action-Comedy Film

Annyeong Oppa

Uhm Jung-hwa is returning to the big screen!

The singer and actress has been cast in the film “Okay! Madam” (literal title) as Mi Young, the owner of a popular Korean traditional doughnut (also known as twisted breadsticks) store. She is married to Suk Hwan (played by Park Sung-woong), a computer-repair expert.

The film is an action-comedy about a married couple who need to save their family after they are hijacked during their first family trip together. This is Uhm Jung-hwa’’s first acting project after the drama “You Are Too Much”, and her first film in four years, after “Wonderful Nightmare.”

Uhm Jung-hwa’s character, Mi Young, is a cheerful and loving mother and wife who works hard at her store to support her husband and child. Park Sung-woong’s character, Suk Hwan, is an innocent character who is deeply in love with his wife and therefore very different from some of the darker characters Park Sung-woong has played in the past.

Lee Sang-yoon has been cast as Chul Seung, a North Korean spy who hijacks an airplane to find one of his missing agents and throws Mi Young’s family trip in chaos. Bae Jung-nam plays a newly recruited flight attendant and Lee Sun-bin plays Gwi Soon, the best agent in North Korea.

The movie began filming in February, 2019.
