Twice Meaning / Twice Definition
During Sixteen, Park Jinyoung or JYP who came up with the name Twice explained that Twice is a group that will impress you once with your eyes and once with your ears. This means that the girls are not only beautiful but Twice’s songs are also great.
Twice Fandom Name
Twice’s fans are officially called ONCE. Most K-pop groups have fandom names so it will be easier for their idols to call them. Twice debuted in October 2015 and it only took less than a month to release their fandom name. JYP Entertainment released this official statement on November 4, 2015. Just like in English word, twice come after once. This also refers to: if you love Twice once, they will return the love twice.
Twice Official Colors
Twice official colors are apricot and neon magenta. K-pop groups usually have their own color as a branding. The same goes for Twice. Twice also has their official colors that officially released by the agency on September 23, 2016. The two colors of apricot and neon magenta are combined and became Twice official colors on each of their logos.
The nine members of Twice were selected during Sixteen competition from JYP Entertainment and Mnet broadcasting channel. In this section, we will explore what’s the story behind Twice before they made their debut.
Before debuting Twice, JYP Entertainment was rumored to debut a new girl group called 6Mix in 2013. This rumor was followed by other rumored new groups of JYP Entertainment which are 5Live (now Day6) and Got7. However, compared to them 6mix’s line-up was still unclear. The rumored line-up from 6Mix is Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Jisoo, Sana, Lena, and Minyoung.
There’s a rumor that JYP Entertainment delayed the debut of 6Mix which was supposed to debut after Got7 in 2014. The rumored reason was because of the Sewol Fery incident in April 2014. At that time, the whole nation was mourning because of the incident. So, JYP Entertainment delayed the debut of 6Mix that was being prepared at the same time.
In April 2015, JYP Entertainment announced to collaborate with Mnet to create a survival show called Sixteen. The survival show was participated by 16 female trainees of JYP Entertainment, from 13 to 20 years old. The trainees were also from various countries such as Korea, Japan, Thailand, Canada, etc.
Trainees from the rumored line-up of 6Mix also joined the show. It’s Jisoo who changed her name to Jihyo, Jeongyeon, Nayeon, Sana, and Minyoung. However, Lena was rumored to left the agency before Sixteen started. The rest of the participants are Eunsuh, Chaeryeong, Natty, Momo, Chaeyoung, Dahyun, Tzuyu, Mina, Jiwon, Somi, and Chaeyeon.
Sixteen allowed audiences at home to vote for their favorite participants, besides evaluation from Park Jin-young.
The first episode aired on May 5, 2015, and aired its final episode on July 7, 2015. On the final episode which is also their 10th episode, JYP announced the final line-up of JYP Entertainment’s new girl group, Twice.
The original lineup was only 7 members, Nayeon, Jeonyeon, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung. Tzuyu was added based on voting from audiences. While Momo who has been eliminated in the fourth mission was added based on the decision of A&R Team and Trainers.
Some netizens couldn’t accept the fact that Momo and Tzuyu were added. But there was a former trainee from JYP Entertainment who stated that Sixteen was a real thing, the lineup was didn’t set before the show ends.
Twice Debut (After)
Before made their debut in October 2015, Twice members were selected from a survival program called Sixteen, which aired in 2015. The show was joined by female trainees of JYP Entertainment. Twice First Win on Music Show
The first win for Twice on a music show was when Twice promoted Cheer Up in 2016. Twice got their very first trophy on Mnet’s M! Countdown on May 5, 2016. As this is their first time winning a music show’s chart, most of the Twice members were crying. However, Tzuyu the maknae was the one who smiled brightly. This also happened to other maknae in JYP Entertainment, Miss A’s Bae Suzy and Wonder Girls’ Ahn Sohee.

Jihyo stated that members are worried if the public find them boring because of that.
