Idol Producer (simplified Chinese: 偶像练习生, traditional: 偶像練習生, pinyin: Ǒuxiàng Liànxíshēng) is a 2018 Chinese reality survival program that premiered on January 19, 2018, on iQIYI. Framed as a large-scale trainee draft, it gathered 100 contestants from a pool of 1,908 across 87 agencies (plus independent trainees). Lay Zhang served as presenter and production director, with a mentor panel featuring Li Ronghao (vocal), Jackson Wang and MC Jin (rap), and Cheng Xiao and Zhou Jieqiong (dance). After twelve episodes, the nine highest-ranked contestants debuted as boy group Nine Percent on April 6, 2018.
